Step by step

How to set it up

No custom app needed. Just configure an HTTP request.

1

Create a new Zap

Start a new Zap and choose your trigger — a new email, calendar event, form submission, Slack message, or any of 6,000+ triggers.

2

Add a Webhooks by Zapier action

Add an action step and search for "Webhooks by Zapier". Choose "Custom Request" as the event.

3

Configure the request

Set the method to GET, enter the ScreenshotDEV API URL, and add your access key as a header. Use Zapier's field mapping to insert dynamic URLs.

Method: GET
URL: https://api.screenshotdev.com/v1/screenshot
     ?url={{trigger.url}}
     &format=png
     &width=1280
     &full_page=true

Headers:
  X-Access-Key: ak_live_your_key_here
4

Test the step

Click 'Test step' — Zapier will make the request and parse the JSON response. You'll see the screenshot URL, dimensions, and render time.

Response:
{
  "url": "https://cdn.ssdev.io/s/a3b8f1.png",
  "width": 1280,
  "height": 960,
  "format": "png",
  "renderTimeMs": 520
}
5

Use the screenshot in the next step

Add another action to send the screenshot — save to Google Drive, post in Slack, add to Notion, or attach to an email. Map the "url" field from the webhook response.

FAQ

Zapier + ScreenshotDEV — Common questions

Do I need a premium Zapier plan?
Webhooks by Zapier is available on all paid plans. The free plan doesn't include the Webhooks action.
Can I use Zapier's formatter to modify the URL?
Yes. Add a Formatter step before the webhook to construct or modify URLs dynamically — add query parameters, extract domains, etc.
How do I handle rate limits in Zapier?
ScreenshotDEV returns rate limit headers. If you hit a limit, Zapier will automatically retry with a delay. You can also add a Delay step between captures.
Can I capture PDFs with Zapier?
Yes. Use the POST method and call /v1/pdf instead. Send a JSON body with your parameters to generate PDFs.
Is the response automatically parsed?
Yes. Zapier auto-parses JSON responses, so you can map individual fields (url, width, height, etc.) directly in subsequent steps.
